Had a great time at the show tonight, saw some old friends, as well as some new ones. It’s crazy touring after a three year hiatus, and seeing a lot of the same people I saw on tour back before 2010. I just wanted to say, thank you. Thank you for being so welcoming and devoted, thank you for taking us in, especially when people around you won’t, thank you for counting hours until the hiatus was over, thank you for every second of missed sleep spent waiting outside arena doors, or constantly tweeting/facebooking me, Pete, Joe, or Andy, and waiting patiently, with butterflies for a reply. You may think it doesn’t matter to us, that it’s indifferent. Well, believe me, it matters more than our morning cup(s) of coffee, you’re what drives us, what motivates us, the steam that keeps this old engine going. We couldn’t do it without you, so thank you. Thank you for being the most devoted and accepting fans out there. Thank you for seeing the world through the same eyes we do. Thank you for rocking out at every show with us. Thank you for making sure other fans are okay when they’re upset, and we can’t reply to them fast enough. Thank you for making it worth while. When we started out in Chicago, we used to mock the idea of being famous, it was always a laughing matter. It was something out of reach, something that didn’t matter, simply because it would never happen. I’ll never forget the night that guy in the crowd suggested we’d be Fall Out Boy, and how well it fit. After that, it all just fell into place (at a mighty rapid speed, may I add), and a lot of the time, it seemed we couldn’t even catch our breath. There are a lot of burnt out rockstars out there, that have been touring long before we started. Thank you, thank you, thank you for keeping us young, wild, and free. For not putting us on the shelf, and letting us dust over, forgetting about us. I hope the day never comes when I want to quit this job, because I’ll never find another occupation half as satisfying. Thank you for giving us reason to push forward when all hope was gone. Thank you for helping Pete through his problem with pills, thank you for helping me through my alcohol binge, thank you for listening to Andy, and reaching out to Joe. You may wonder what it means to us, or if we even notice. Believe me, we do. You’re just as important to us, as we are to you. That’s why we try to make time for you, because with any relationship, both sides must try. I never want to lose one of you, because each of you makes up part of the beautiful project Fall Out Boy has become. Thank you.

Love always,
Ric Stump.

The whole thing made my heart clench, jesus. I wonder what happened to bring that on? Patrick doesn't usually just do random posts like that, you know?

Me, too. Maybe he just needed to get it off his chest -I mean, it doesn't seem like he's depressed or anything. More grateful than anything else. He seems fine on twitter and things; it could be as simple as wanting to connect with the fans.

Possibly- he was probably so happy with the way the tour's turning out that he wanted to share with the fans how important they are to him and the band.

The alcohol binge he's referring to happened back when Folie came out, so '08, 09, right around there. I mean, he still drinks, so I think it was just a case of not realizing how much he drank at the time.
